Minutes March 2010 General Meeting

14 Members were present (Harry Sr, Howard O’Brien, Mike Cushman, Harry Jr, Greg French, BJ Ahlstrom, Tim Mateer, Jay Bice, Bill Clark, Bob Grant, Jermayne Warren, Mike Siptrott, Bryon LaClair, Dick Murphy)

 Pledge of Allegiance. Moment of Silence.

 Dick Murphy conducted a safe vehicle response to scene presentation.

 It was agreed to forgo reading of the February 2010 meeting minutes.

 Treasurer’s Report  (Howard O’Brien)

*  We received $9000 for our Town of Leray contract.

*  Robbins fixed the water pump for the barn at a cost of $206.64. Voted and approved to pay it.

 Correspondance

*  Theresa Memorial Day Committee – parade will be May 30^th at 3pm. Jay said he would take the brush truck.

*  Jefferson County Fire & EMS Management – looking for an updated membership roster for the department.

*  Howard read a letter from Senator Aubertine’s office officially notifying us that he has secured the $20,000 state grant for us.

Director’s Report

Bill Clark – The light on the building outside the door is still on.

 Chief’s Report

*  JR – stated that he and Tim Mateer will be gone later in the month to training at the National Fire Academy in Maryland.

*  JR – Evans Mills’s Rescure truck has scene lights on the top of it in case we need them.

*  JR – Records and reports need to be updated.

*  JR – Stated that the Captains and Lieutenants have his permission to run red lights and sirens for a 6 month trail period.

*  JR – The next SOP/SOG Meeting will be March 11^th at 6pm. Those attending you should plan to stay at least 3 hours.

 Captain’s Report  (Howard O’Brien)

 Lieutenant’s Report

None.

 Committee Reports

*  Howard – He has heard nothing on the grant for the new fire station.

*  Howard – Our banquet will be May 15^th at the Philadelphia Fire Hall. They will be serving ham and roast beef and all of the trimmings.

*  JR – Curt’s donation letters have gone out. The new date of the auction will be June 5^th, 2010.

 Old Business

*  Howard – he picked up the new fire pager that the 4H donation bought us.

*  Dick – asked about the fire badges that were ordered. Mike stated that they had not come in yet, that the web site says 4 to 6 weeks.

*  Harry, Sr – stated the front door on the old barn seems to keep popping open on it’s own. There was talk about buying a clasp and using a padlock to secure the door.

 New Business

*  Howard – wants to buy a new ladder truck.

*  Howard – spoke about the mechanical problems with Engine 1. Crimson is sending a rep from Harrob to look at the truck and fix the door. He is also going to look at the strobe light problem but really would like the truck at their shop down in Syracuse.
